Specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr Patrishia Bordbar has been in practice since 1996, and has completed over fifteen years of training with undergraduate degrees in both Medicine (registered Medical doctor with AHPRA) and Dentistry (registered Dentist with AHPRA), as well as surgical training to become a registered specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. She also holds a Masters degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS), and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy. As a Melbournian, all her degrees were obtained through The University of Melbourne and she was the recipient of several awards and scholarships during her studies.
She undertook her basic and advanced surgical training in Melbourne, and has completed the Part I Surgical examinations of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, as well as Part I and Part II (OMS) examinations with the RACDS, in order to be awarded the specialist qualification of FRACDS (OMS) required to register as a specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. In addition to the basic and advanced surgical training requirements, she spent a further 2 years in the United Kingdom gaining further expertise and completing a Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery through the Royal College of Surgeons (England). She volunteered for three months in 2001, and was part of a team operating on over one hundred patients with cleft lip and palate deformities in India.
Dr Bordbar is a Senior Consultant Surgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. She holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer appointment through Department of Paediatrics at The University of Melbourne. She is a current reviewer for several journals in the field of OMS including IJOMS and JOMS. She is regularly invited to present papers at national and international conferences. She is firmly committed to the profession, and the ongoing supervision, training and examination of future surgeons.
Dr Bordbar enjoys practicing the full scope of oral & maxillofacial surgery including wisdom teeth extraction, dentoalveolar surgery, and dental implants. She also has a keen interest and has developed extensive experience and expertise in management of facial trauma, craniofacial deformities in both adults and children, and orthognathic (jaw and bite correction) surgery through her work at Melbourne’s major hospitals.
